The Shakopee Heritage Society (SHS) is dedicated to preserving the heritage for the city of Shakopee, Minnesota.


Donations are welcome - memorabilia and photos pertaining to the people, places, businesses, and events of Shakopee. Monetary donations are accepted, as well.

Pathways of Shakopee History (POSH) Project:

Pathways of Shakopee History is the city's first interpretive wayfinding sign system to educate residents and visitors on Shakopee and the surrounding

region's rich history of people, events, features and cultural influences dating back to the late 1600s.


Since 2011, when the SHS recieved permission from the City of Shakopee to install the 

Pathways of Shakopee History is the city's first interpretive wayfinding sign system to educate residents and visitors on Shakopee and the surrounding

region's rich history of people, events, features and cultural influences dating back to the late 1600s.


Since 2011, when the SHS recieved permission from the City of Shakopee to install the wayfinding system in a city park, they have researched, developed

and designed 19 interpretive trail signs. 


Currently, 10 wayfinding signs are completed and located at the west end of Memorial Park, Shakopee’s oldest park. The remaining nine signs are completed and will be a part of a kiosk, set to be built within the next year. 


Funding for the signs and kiosk have been  made from the generous contributions of indiviiduals, families and businesses. The SHS is still accepting donations for this project. Community Connections

The SHS has established friendly connections and affiliations with the Scott County Historical Society, Minnesota Historical Society, local retail, city and municipal staff. The SHS welcomes partnerships with all who are interested in Shakopee's history and its preservation.
